‘Vande Mataram’ in two states

The film that took more than 3 years to complete will hit the theatres on July 15 in Kerala and Tamilnadu.

KOCHI: Megastar Mammotty’s new film ‘Vande Mataram’, co-starring Arjun and Sneha, will be released in 350 centres in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on July 15.

The action-packed patriotic movie is being produced by Pankaj Pictures’ Henry, who had already given two hit movies ‘Yavanika’ and ‘Marumalarchi’ with Mammootty.

T Aravind has directed the movie. The story is an action-thriller that revolves around two police officers striving to curb the terrorist activities in India. Sneha plays the role of Mammooty’s wife.

The film started rolling in 2007 and was delayed due to financial constraints. Previously, the Tamil version was titled as ‘Aruvadai’ and later replaced with ‘Vande Mataram’.

The scenes filmed inside the Chennai Central Jail is the highlight of the movie along with the patriotic title song ‘Vande Matharam’, crooned by ten playback singers.

The supporting roles, in the movie, are played by Kalabhavan Mani, Jagadish, late Rajan P Dev, Jai Akash and Atul Kulkarni. D Iman had composed the film’s music. Cinematography is by Rajesh Yadav.
