Uppi has has already started work on his next directorial venture and will announce it in good time

Having completed 25 days and rushing towards 50, Upendra’s Uppi2 is proof enough that the audience has matured. The film clearly outlines the fact Kannada viewers are ready to lap up an honest effort as well as a subject which sends a strong message across while not being preachy.

While the film has created a benchmark for the younger lot of filmmakers to delve into philosophy while keeping it simple, Upendra asserts that complexity is a tough aspect in a film, but if the convolution is handled with simplicity and relatable moments, the audience will connect with it. “I am not thinking about what is happening or what will not. Dealing with a theme ‘Don’t think too much before doing anything’, can be tough from a cinematic perspective, but what worked was that I made the film from a common man’s perspective,” he says. No wonder, the actor-director, who breaks all rules of conventional filmmaking, is practising what he has tried to convey through Uppi2.

“I am just enjoying the subject even now. In fact, I am trying to be like the character in the film in real life too and it is making me happy. Many from the industry, especially music director Arjun Janya also mentioned that they felt good after watching the film. A lot of my fans are following the message and so it is not right, if I don’t,” he says.

Currently, the actor is enjoying the feedback and has started with the script for his next direction. “My direction for tomorrow has already started today,” he says and will announce his next as and when the timing is right.

Though Uppi is living in the moment, the latest buzz is that his next project as an actor will be Kanchana 2.
