NEW YORK: And we have the winners! The competition was tough in the Best Debut Actor category at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), but the awards ultimately went to Disha Patani and Diljit Dosanjh.

The 25-year-old debutante won the award for her performance in ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story,’ while the 33-year-old debutant got it for ‘Udta Punjab.’

The 'Befikra' girl made her big Bollywood debut with 'M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story' featuring Sushant Singh Rajput in the title role. The diva played Dhoni's first love in the film.

Diljit, who made his Bollywood debut with 'Udta Punjab,’ played a cop in the movie that revolved around the growing menace of substance abuse in Punjab. 

The 18th edition of the awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of Bollywood in different cities across the world, is a three-day extravaganza that started from July 13 and is being held at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New York.

Besides Bollywood celebrities, several Hollywood stars, including Angelina Jolie, action star Jackie Chan, Australian pop-star Kylie Minogue, British actor Colin Firth, Hollywood stars Hillary Swank, Kevin Spacey and John Travolta, have also been a part of IIFA in the past.
