Nikhil Kumar, who is happy to work with Chethan Kumar for his next project, introduced the movie’s technicians at the script pooja held on Sunday. Nikhil’s father HD Kumaraswamy was present at the event. Meanwhile, the latest buzz about this yetto- be-titled film is around its heroine. The filmmakers, in association with Nikhil’s talent-hunt company, have been on the lookout for a Kannada girl. They recently held auditions and even short listed a few.

Latha Hegde

The film requires a homely girl, who will be featured in a traditional outlook in the film and according to our sources, the team is keen on roping in Latha Hegde. The new talent in town, from Auckland, Latha is a Kannada-speaking girl introduced by director Mahesh Babu for his yet-to-betitled project. In her debut, she is paired opposite Chethan.

The shooting for the film is nearly done, with just a song left to complete. While the first film is yet to be released, the actress has bagged two more Kannada films - Gelayana Gelathi and Utsav with Diganth -- both of which are being shot now. If everything falls in place and her project with Nikhil takes off, it will catapult Latha into a whole new level. “The team has had discussions with Latha, and now they are negotiating the remuneration,” says our source.

“If the actress agrees to the terms, she will be part of the project, and then an official announcement will be made.” The film, which is all set to go on floors from mid-May, has V Harikrishna as its music director and Sreesha Kuduvalli as cinematographer. It has Deepu as editor, A Harsha as choreographer and Ravi Santhehaiklu as its art director.
