Director Mahesh Kumar, marking his directorial debut with Ayogya, is completing shoot on a brisk pace and nearly done with forty per cent of it. The film, starring Sathish Ninasam and Rachita Ram, is shot mostly in Mandya and has a goat playing an important character.

Named Byra, the young goat has won over everyone’s hearts on the set and has even become the heroine’s pet. Mahesh says, “Byra was picked up from one of the houses in Mandya and now knows how to react to ‘action’ and ‘cut’. The hero in the movie is attached to Byra, who plays an important part in his romance with the heroine. I wanted to capture Mandya’s spirit and so thought a goat would be apt.”

The director also has an old Java bike and a ladies bike playing an important part in the narrative, and are not just props. He says that they are like characters in the story. Mahesh is to start his next schedule from January 15, and will be completing the shoot in a month’s time. The director also plans to release the movie on May 15.
