Sairat’s remake in Kannada is titled Manasu Mallige and has completed the shoot. The film is wrapping up its post production stage and is all set to be released on February 9.

Director S Narayan confirms the news about the film produced by Rockline Venkatesh. The makers have managed to rope in Rinku Rajguru,  as heroine, who was part of the Marathi film that became one of the highest grossing movies of that industry.

The remake rights for the movie in all South Indian languages has been bought by Rockline Venkatesh and Dharma Production has taken the Hindi rights. S Narayan says that Rinku, who completed her shoot for the Kananda version, said that she will not be taking any other project anytime soon. She will be busy preparing for her SSLC examination this year.

“After her exams, she will take up her next film with Sairat director,” he says, “after which she will consider other projects.”

Meanwhile, S Narayan who had roped in popular villain Sathya Prakash’s son was insistent about giving him a new name for the screen. “He will now be known as Nishant in future,” says the director. The Marathi blockbuster directed by Nagaraj Manjule had Akash Thosar in the lead.
