Mithram, a tale of love and deceit, directed by debutant Jespal Shanmughan will hit the theatres this Friday. The horror flick will also mark the debut of Ashkar Saudan, nephew of actor Mammootty.
The movie set in two different decades traces the journey of Siddarth, a journalist, who all of a sudden begins to have an eerie feeling. He embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery and learns about something that happened decades ago. That’s when he stumbles upon the tale of Jini and Meera.
Jini and Meera, two girls who are poles apart in everything, forms a strong friendship. “Though they hail from a different background, their strong friendship overcomes everything. However, things began to sour when a man enters the scene. Madhav, who gets enticed seeing the poem written by Jini, falls for her. But, this upsets Meera whose ego gets hurts. The events that unfurl forms the premise of the story,” says Arun Nandan, who scripted the movie along with M D Tamilarasan.
Arun Nandan adds that the movie can fit the genre of romantic horror thriller. “It is essentially a story of rebirths and revenge. But, there is a strong message about how women who get obsessed with looks, view things. There is a social message too,” says Arun Nandan.
Jespal Shanmughan who directed the movie says he has total confidence in his crew. On the debut of Ashkar Saudan, another actor from the Mammootty clan, Jespal says he put up an impressive performance in the movie. Debuntant actors Soorya Kiran plays Jeni and Gouri Krishna plays Meera
