Road movies often arouse one’s curiosity. And, the road movie wrapped in a garb of a thriller, then its double bonanza for the audience. The upcoming movie ‘Saarathi’ by debutant Gopalan Manoj promises to be a complete road thriller, a story happens in a time span of one day.
“It narrates the story of Christi, a carefree young ambulance driver, who doesn’t have any social commitments and doesn’t take responsibilities,” says Manoj. Sunny Wayne dons the role of Christi.
The plot revolves on the journey of Christi who as part of a duty call has to travel carrying a dead body from the city to a high range area. “During the course of his journey he encounters with certain incidents that makes his life topsy turvy,” explains Manoj who has won national and state awards for his short films. He has got the national award for his ‘Immini Balyaoraal’ in the Children’s Film Fest in 2012 and state television award for ‘Violin’ in 2005.
The movie with a socially relevant subject will also see Sreenivasan, Nedumudi Venu, Madhupal, Thalaivasal Vijay, Baiju, Sunil Sugatha, Sruthi Bala and Vinutha Lal playing pivotal roles.
“Sreenivasan plays assistant sub inspector who faces some health issues while Nedumudi Venu plays a patriarch. Vinutha Lal is a lady who resides in the high range,” says the director. “All these characters run into Christi during the journey,” he adds.
“This story can happen in anyone’s life at any time. And certain incidents can change a person forever likewise the movie shows how Christi’s life alters is the rest of the movie about,” says Manoj.
‘Saarathi’ has three songs composed by Gopi Sundar and lyrics are penned by Harinarayanan. Story is by K Ranjith, script is by Rajesh K Raman and camera is cranked by Naushad Sherif. The film produced by Sreekumar G Pillai will hit the screens on February 13.
