KOCHI: Seldom has an announcement about an upcoming film project generated such excitement like that witnessed on Thursday. The Facebook post by actor Prithviraj about his directorial debut went viral soon after he announced that he would be directing superstar Mohanlal in the flick based on the script by Murali Gopy. Titled ‘Lucifer’, it will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
“Lucifer’ starring Lalettan, written by Murali Gopy, produced by Aashirvad Cinemas will be my directorial debut....Coming Soon!” Prithviraj posted on his FB page.
Soon after, Mohanlal also came out with a post on the popular networking site: “Here I have big news for my million splendid audience about my upcoming project. A big budget movie from Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, which sees collaboration of two icons of Malayalam film industry behind the camera for the first time, who are also distinguished for their uniqueness ... Prithviraj son of my dearest Sukumarettan making his directorial debut and Murali Gopy son of our Gopiettan penning story and script ... And the movie’s name is ‘Lucifer’,” wrote the thespian. Back in 2013, ‘Lucifer’ had been announced by the late director Rajesh Pillai.
But the mass entertainer was shelved later. Currently, Murali Gopi and Prithviraj are working together in Jiyen Krishna Kumar’s ‘Tiyan’.
