Overall, a disappointment

From our online archive

Ko Ko is the fourth film for director R Chandru who  earned both name and fame with his maiden film Taj Mahal. However, his second film Prem Kahani had disappointed the audience. His third film Mailari has been successfully running for 100 days now. If the  narration, number of stunts and song sequences are any indication, it seems that Chandru will disappoint the audience again and is yet to come out of the ‘Mailari’ hangover. As far as the script is concerned there is nothing to revel about it.

The director has blindly followed the formula of songs, stunts and narration. The item number by Sanjana has no relevance to the script whatsoever. Perhaps, Chandru might have introduced the song because of her dancing skills.

The movie is about Kitty (Kitty), an IPS aspirant who happened to defeat Kaveri (Priyamani), sister of Police Commissioner Sri Hari Prasad (Sri Hari) in a chess competition. Prasad mistakes Kitty for Kaveri’s lover and asks the policemen to teach him a lesson.

Meanwhile, Kitty wants to clear the air. Under unavoidable circumstances, Kitty helps Kaveri meet her lover Anand who instead prefers to marry another girl. Anand’s attitude drives Kaveri towards Kitty and she eventually falls in love with him. Will Kaveri’s brother allow her to marry Kitty? Watch it on the silver screen.

The opening scene, where a beautiful girl approaches a police inspector for help but the lewd inspector tries to misbehave with her, showcases the police

department in poor light.

The dialogue — one has to think 10 times before entering a police station and 100 times before falling in a love — has the much needed punch. Sri Hari, who is known for playing villainous roles in Telugu films, is at his best. However, his dialogue delivery is not up to the mark.

He is good in sentimental sequences. Anu Prabhakar has a brief role. Harshika too plays a brief role but her dialogue delivery and gestures deserve appreciation.

Priyamani looks apathetic towards her assignment but excels in dance sequences. Sanjana too showed off her moves. Bullet Prakash, as a prospective groom, has the potential to make your funny bones tickle. Music director Ramana Gogula has done a neat job. It is worth a watch provided you have the

patience.
