The Twilight Zone

Interviewing a vampire as Fannah makes waves on television

Karan Pillai

He has come a long way from playing the flawed Arjun Punj in Balaji Telefilms’ Kitani Mohabbat Hai. A familiar face on Indian television after five acting roles and a couple of hosting assignments, Karan Kundra plays the lead role of a vampire in a new show on MTV called Fanaah-An Impossible Love Story, which went live on July 26.

Kundra, 29, reveals that it’s a fast-paced love-story between a vampire and a human (played by debutante television actress, Chetna Pande) with a werewolf and plentyof other vampires thrown into the mix. Also starring Rithvik Dhanjani, Raatan Raajputh, Anita Hassanandani and Nakul Sahdev, the show is produced by Lost Boys Productions and is rumoured to be inspired by the popularAmerican drama, The Vampire Diaries.

In good spirits

Talking about his role, Kundra admits that he has always been lucky with the offbeat characters he has been offered. “All the characters that I have played so far- from a businessman to a singer-have been different from each other,” says the actor who prides himself on staying focussed no matter how overwhelming the challenge might seem to be. With his confidence placed firmly on Pande’s acting abilities, Kundra looks well-geared to take on this meaty role as well as his upcoming Bollywood flick with Prateik Babbar, Rum Pum Posh.
