Here's why you should watch The Angry Birds Movie. It's awesome — plain and simple.

Between chicks that enjoy disco dancing, a legion of green pigs that have a penchant for egg stealing and a narcissistic eagle that pees like a waterfall, the LOL moments in this flick will have your sides aching.

And if you're worried about a weak storyline, given the non impressive history of game-inspired film franchises, leave your skepticism at the door. Bird Island already has enough of it, thanks to Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), our short tempered protagonist. So he's sent for anger management classes where he meets buddies Chuck (Josh Gad) and Bomb (Danny Mcbride).

When a ship of pigs drop in unannounced — Red is the only one suspicious of 'foul' play and seeks the help of his friends and long time hero of the island, Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage), now a has-been who has grown too fat to fly.

The actual game of birds slung across landscapes to blow up the baddies (in this case a castle full of pigs) is built up to create the grandiose fight scene at the end. With a star cast of voices including the likes of Sean Penn who plays the gigantic grunting bird that actually breaks the catapult, hilarious pop culture references (care to buy from Calvin Swine anyone?) and the 'Aww' moments unlimited when an army of stolen eggs eventually hatch... this movie is choc-a-bloc full on fun.

The 3D is not cheesy (like the oh-so-disappointing as X-Men: Apocalypse), although believe it or not there is a speedster with feathers that has super powers like Quicksilver, zipping around bad piggies and turning them against each other, quicker than you can say... Kakaaw!

Perhaps the one thing that made no sense was pigs snacking on sausages. To which  someone said: 'Those could have been chicken sausages.' Guess that would justify the movie title.
