THE audio launch of 'Panchamritam' was conducted in quite a novel way by its producer Abirami Ramanathan. The film starring Arvind Akash and Saranya along with Jayram and Nasser, is a children’s film, directed by Raju Easwaran. Keeping the theme of the film in mind, the audio launch function was conducted by P Annamalai, the young grandson of the producer. The invocation song was sung by his little granddaughter. The producer’s wife,  Nallamai Ramanathan, welcomed the guests and daughter Meenakshi undertook the overview of the entire event. The vote of thanks was given by his son R Sivalingam, making it a complete family affair, like the movie itself.

The hall at the Abhirami Mall itself was also  full of school children. So what were so many kids doing in a film function? Apparently, the producers had held a three day interschool dance competition across TN in which 72 schools participated. The theme of the competition was simple. The contestants had to choose any one of the five songs in the film and dance to it with their troupe. The winners were announced and awarded cash prizes and a momento and citation by none other then Kanimozhi, MP.

The stage was soon filled by eager children who happily posed for photographs and jostled for space on the stage. The fun filled and cheery atmosphere seemed so infectious that even the dignitaries on the dais couldn’t help smiling. The event saw the coming together of important dignitaries like SA Chandrasekar and wife Shobha, Vaali, MS Visvanathan,  Ramesh Prasad of Prasad Labs, Rama Narayan, KRG, Sundar C Babu, Illavarsan, Pandu, Arvind Akash and Raju Eswaran apart from P Subramaniam and Francis.

The film is directed by Raju Eswaran in his debut venture while MSV has sung a song to the composition of Sundar C Babu, the son of his friend, the veteran Veena Player Chitti Babu. Kanimozhi MP urged the young students to foster their talent along with their studies and to earn more laurels in future as well. Three songs from the film were also screened. The film will be released  this month.

Panchamritam to be made in Telugu

Pancharmritam is one of the few  childrens’ films to be made in Tamil in recent years

Speaking to Expresso, producer Abhirami Ramanathan revealed his plans to make more such films in future. “I am remaking this film in Telugu next using a Telugu star cast.” Ramanathan is clear about the plans of his production house. “We will be making three films a year and they will all be children’s films. With a kid’s film I get the entire family into the theatre but with a love story or an adult theme, the audience is less. So it makes more business sense to make such films besides entertaining kids as well,” he shugs.

Talking about Raju Eswaran, his director, he reveals, “Raju was the director of my teleserial Mayavi Marichan which ran for two years. The Panchamritam story is based on that serial.” Eswaran is also the CEO of Abhirami Theatres Pvt Ltd.
