As Srikanth walks past a thick billowing smoke of tricolour with Mahatma Gandhi’s body in his arms, muhurat shot of Srikanth’s 100th film `Mahatma’ was recorded amidst the presence of a galaxy of Tollywood personalities at Alind factory on the city outskirts on Sunday morning.

Terming Krishna Vamsi as one of the most creative directors of Telugu cinema, film star-turned-politician Chiranjeevi wished that the film would remain a memorable one in Srikanth’s career. “It is refreshing to participate in a movie-event amidst hectic campaigns,’’ he said.

“The film appears to be a patriotic one.

And Krishna Vamsi seems to have invited everyone who have completed 100 films in Telugu cinema to do the honours for `Mahatma,’’’ said Dasari Narayana Rao. For the first time Paruchuri brothers are working for a Srikanth’s film.

Malayali belle Bhavana plays the heroine.

“ As a director Krishna Vamsi is close to me. I have been pressing him to direct my 100th film for the past two years. He has come up with an amazing script which I hope will remain a milestone in my career,’’ said Srikanth.

Chiranjeevi sounded the clapboard for the film. Dasari Narayana Rao directed the muhurat shot. Director K Raghavendra Rao switched on the camera. D Ramanaidu triggered the tricolour bomb. Srikanth’s friend Manohar who is set to contest as MP from Karnataka is producing the film.

The film is scheduled to hit the screens on August 15.
