CHENNAI: This Punjabi kudi made her debut in the Vijaykanth-starrer Arasangam. She was just another glam doll in the film, but with her latest flick Ambasamuthiram Ambani, Navneeth Kaur has proved that she is capable of acting too. She pairs up with Karunas in the film.

Says Navneeth, “I’m so lucky to have got such a performance-oriented role in Ambasamuthiram Ambani. I was always looked upon as a hot and glamorous actress in the Telugu industry, but through this film, I made a point that I can perform  too.”

At present, the actress is busy doing Punjabi flicks. “I hope I would get more performance related characters after Ambasamuthiram Ambani. Though I made my debut in Arasangam, only this film gave me more scope to act. It’s very tough for a heroine to get good roles in the industry,” opines the actress. Why did she take such a long gap to select her second film? “After Arasangam, I got only glamorous roles that demanded me to show skin. I was waiting for a meaningful script and that’s when I got this offer from director Ramnath. I have been getting calls from my well-wishers congratulating me,” she gushes.

Navneeth has acted in all the South Indian languages and also in her mother tongue Punjabi.

“The Punjab film industry is up and coming and you always have a special feeling when you act in your mother tongue. It was very difficult for me to get those Tamil dialogues right but towards the end of the shooting, I picked up the language,” adds Navneeth, who loves the Tamil audiences.

“They give you a chance to perform even if your debut film becomes a dud. In order to prove that I’m capable of both glamorous and performance-oriented roles, I have done both in Ambasamuthiram Ambani. If I get good scripts I’m ready to act with up and coming heroes too,” says the actress with a hope to get more offers in the industry!
