It is hard to imagine actor Shaam, who has featured mostly in breezy romances, to try experimental roles. But the actor sure has taken his profession seriously, and has gone sleepless for 12 days to play a role in his upcoming movie, 6.
Directed by V Z Durai, the movie is said to be about six events occurring in six states. Shaam, predictably, sports six looks in the film, one of which required him to have puffy eyes.
To make the look natural, the actor reportedly gave up sleep for 12 days. The film unit was stunned by the way the actor looked when he came to shoot the sequences bleary eyed.
A source close to the film unit said Shaam decided to do this even after filmmaker Durai advised him against it.
To suit his role, Shaam has reportedly shed 17 kgs, grown long hair and now sports a beard. It took the actor, according to sources, a good week’s rest to return to shoot.
Shaam issued a statement about the same in which he referred to Rajini and Kamal Haasan as his role models, and noted that 6 would be an important film in his career.
