CHENNAI: Director Jeeva Anand says that actor Sathya shed 15 kg to fit into the role of a school boy in his forthcoming Tamil romantic-drama "Amara Kaaviyam", about teen romance of the 1980s.

Two-film-old Sathya, who is actor Arya's brother, is said to be in his 20s.

"Since Sathya was playing a school student, he had to shed as much weight as possible to look believable in the role. He lost about 15 kg," Jeeva told IANS.

"The process wasn't easy because the weight loss had to show on his face, and not just on his body," he added.

Jeeva is confident that his directorial venture will definitely make the audience emotional.

"It's an intense love story. At a recent private screening, actress Nayantara watched our film and she cried for a long time. A similar effect will be left on the audience as well," he said.

Also starring Mia George, "Amara Kaaviyam" is slated to release Friday in cinemas.
