Hrishikesh, who played Dhanush’s younger brother in Vellai Illa Pattathari (2014), will soon play the lead a Tamil film, Rum. The actor, who is also the cousin of music director Anirudh, says, “The film’s title does not mean alcohol. It is an ancient Tamil word, which means theerpu or verdict,” he says.

Hrishikesh admits Vellai Illla Pattathari gave him a great boost in the film industry. “I come from a family that is all about films. My grandfather was a documentary film maker. I began acting in advertisements when I was four years old. After my schooling, I studied visual communication and started working on advertisements. It was then that I got an opportunity to do Vellai Illa Pattathari, which gave me a major break. Now, this film has come my way,” he says.

Rum is to be directed by a newcomer, Sai, and will feature Sanchita Shetty as the heroine. Comedian Vivekh, Mia George and Narain too will play important roles in the film. Says Hrishikesh, “Sai studied filmmaking in the US. He has worked as an assistant director in a Hollywood film and when he approached me with the script, I liked it. It is a racy horror thriller.” The team will begin shooting from February 22.

Hrishikesh will play the lead role in Tamil horror thriller Rum, directed by newcomer Sai and featuring Sanchita Shetty as the heroine. Vivekh, Mia George and Narain will also play important roles. Hrishikesh played Dhanush’s younger brother in 2014-hit film, Vellai Illa Pattathari.
