CHENNAI: Ending the uncertainity over the release date of Pokkiri Raja, which features Jiiva, Hansika and Sibi in the lead, its makers have now announced that the film will hit screens on March 4. Until this point, there was no clarity on the release date of the film. Pokkiri Raja‘s troubles started with Puli’s bad performance at the box office. As a result, distributors who bought Puli began
demanding compensation from its producer P T Selvakumar for the losses they incurred. They announced that until they were compensated, they would boycott P T Selvakumar’s next film, Pokkiri Raja. It was under these circumstances, that a meeting between the Producers’ Council and the Distributors Association was called. Says a source close to the film unit, “The issue has now been resolved. A solution was arrived at during the recent meeting between members of the Producers Council and the Distributors Association.” It’s one of the most anticipated films for a number of reasons. One, it is Jiiva’s 25th film and two, it has been directed by Ramprakash Rayappa of Tamizhukku En Ondrai Azhuthavum (2014) fame.
