Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor’s online platform for shows, ALTBalaji, has come up with its first Tamil show, Maya Thirrai, which was launched yesterday. The 16-episode-long web-series, with each episode about 20 minutes in length, has been released on the platform.

Starring Nandha of Punnagai Poove and Eeram fame, the web-series also has actresses Eden Kuriakose and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli in pivotal roles. This thriller has been directed by Kaushik Narasimhan and produced by Kutty Padmini.

Maya Thirrai is about a woman who marries a widower. Just as she settles into her new happy life, she figures out that there’s a cloud of mystery shrouding her husband and his mentally-challenged twin brother.
Talking to CE, Nandha said, “I play two characters.

While one is a normal and well-adjusted guy, the other one is a confused, absent-minded character. Both the characters look the same and we differentiated them using body language alone. The second role was more challenging.

I’ve played negative roles in Vanthaan Vendraan and Eeram, but this was something new. This is also my first double role.”
The actor, who’ll next be seen in Suriya’s Thaana Serndha Kootam, also added, “Not only are the other characters in the show afraid of the twin brother, but the audience too will fear him. The final twist will be interesting.”
