HYDERABAD: WAS youth Congress leader Vikram Goud a victim of murder attempt or a suicide bid? Police say evidence from the scene does not fully tally with Vikram’s wife Shipali’s statements.
“The doctors who examined Vikram explained that the weapon was triggered from a close range and bullets pierced the left side of stomach and right hand,” sources said. However, police found Vikram neither holds a valid weapon licence nor possesses a weapon.

Further, the compound wall of the premises is 10 feet high and fitted with electric fencing. It seems unlikely anyone could gain entry into the residence. Police retrieved CCTV footage of the area. Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahendar Reddy visited the scene. As Vikram refused to give a statement to police till he was better, officials started collecting information from his mobile phone. His WhatsApp messages are being analysed.

A senior police officer associated with the investigation said Vikram was involved in entertainment and leisure businesses. In a WhatsApp conversation, a person allegedly pressured him to return a huge sum of money. Recently, he reportedly sold a major property to clear debts.

Police questioned the cook and watchman at Vikram’s residence. They reportedly told police they entered the hall on hearing gunshots and tried to clean stains on the floor. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, West Zone, A Venkateswara Rao and DCP, Task Force, B Limba Reddy visited a private hospital where  Goud is admitted and questioned him in connection with the incident.
