BHOPAL: The Congress will not ally with big parties and rather opt for smaller ones for UP Assembly polls next year, party general secretary Digvijay Singh said today.

"We are not going to forge an alliance with BJP, BSP and Samajwadi Party for the Uttar Pradesh 2012 assembly polls, rather we will go for alliances with some smaller parties," Singh told reporters here.

"We will forge alliance with like-minded smaller parties and make some seat adjustments in UP. We are going to form the government for sure," said Singh, who is also party in-charge of the state.

Asked about the reported demand for his removal as party in-charge of Uttar Pradesh by senior leader and party's Varanasi unit spokesman Rajesh Kharti, Digvijay said he bore no grudge against anyone.

"If anyone has a complaint, I am ready to listen to him and apologise," he said.
