Akhilesh to Inaugurate 'Maitreya' Project in Kushinagar

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will lay foundation of multi-crore 'Maitreya' project under which world's largest bronze statue of Lord Buddha will be made in Kushinagar district on December 13.

Renowned Buddihist saint Lama Zopa Rinpoche, prominent international, national and state-level personalities will attend the ceremony of Rs 400 crore project, an official spokesman said here today.

In a bid to promote tourism in Kushinagar, the state government has also decided to establish an international airport for which a notification has already been issued on November 3, he said.
