NEW DELHI:A day after he made India proud by successfully launching Agni-V — the N-capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile — project director of the missile programme Dr Rajesh Kumar Gupta was on Wednesday ‘humiliated’ and asked to leave.

On January 31, Gupta was proudly standing next to outgoing DRDO chief, Avinash Chander, and was acknowledging congratulations and hugging his teammates at the Integrated Test Range at Wheeler’s island off Odisha coast.

But the very next working day (February 2) Gupta, one of the top-most scientists of the country, received a secret letter signed by Chander dated January 5, 2015, as DRDO chief, that he was no longer involved in the project.
