LUCKNOW: Family members of gangrape-accused former Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prajapati sought Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s help in ensuring justice for him here on Monday.
Sources said that the family members, including Prajapati's wife and two daughters, reached the Chief Minister's official residence to petition him during his ‘Janata Darshan’ programme, but Yogi Adityanath allegedly refused to meet them.
"We had come all the way to meet the CM and share our woes with him but he did not meet us," said Prajapati’s wife, while talking to media persons outside Adityanath’s residence where he meets people to listen to their problems and redress them on a daily basis.
She said that though she failed to meet the CM, a minister present at the later's house assured her of all possible help.
Claiming that the former state transport minister was implicated in a false case, Prajapati's daughters said that their father was innocent and expressed confidence that the CM would help them get justice.
"We will come again to try and meet the chief minister,” they said.
It may be recalled that Prajapati was granted bail on April 25 by a special POCSO (Protection of Children against Sexual Offence) court along with two of his six accomplices, who were also booked with him on the charges of gangraping a woman from Chitrakoot and also molesting her minor daughter.
However, even before he could come out of jail, the state police moved the court again in two earlier cases the minister was embroiled in, seeking his judicial remand.
Later, Allahabad High Court stayed the bail granted to the tainted minister by the special court.
Even more, the HC administration suspended the Additional Sessions Judge OP Mishra who had passed the order granting bail to Prajapati and his two accomplices — Vivek Verma and Pintu Singh.
A departmental probe was also ordered against Mishra, who had his retirement due on April 30.
