An explosion took place near a salon in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today, but a stone-pelting mob prevented policemen from reaching the site for investigation.

SRINAGAR: An explosion took place near a salon in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir today, but a stone-pelting mob prevented policemen from reaching the site for investigation.

One person was injured in the explosion that took place in Pulwama town this afternoon, a police official said.

Glass panes of the shop were damaged in the impact of the explosion, the official said.

He said a police team, which was heading to the spot for investigation, came under attack from a stone-pelting mob.

"The police team is trying to disperse the mob," he said, adding it would not be possible to comment on the nature of the explosion till law and order was restored in the area.
