LK Advani renominated as Chairman of Lok Sabha Ethics Committee

Veteran BJP leader L K Advani has been renominated as Chairman of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

NEW DELHI: Veteran BJP leader L K Advani has been renominated as Chairman of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.

Besides Advani, all other 14 members have also been given another term.

The Ethics Committee examines every complaint relating to unethical conduct of a member referred to it.

It is also free to take up suo motu investigation into matters relating to ethics, including matters relating to unethical conduct by a member wherever felt necessary and make such recommendations as it may deem fit.

Among those members who have been nominated as Chairman on the various other committees are — P Karunakaran for the Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank for the Committee on Government Assurances, according to a Lok Sabha bulletin.

Chandrakant B Khaire for the Committee on Papers Laid on the Table and Dilipkumar Mansukhlal Gandhi for the Committee on Subordinate Legislation have also been renominated as chairman of the respective panels.

Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha M Thambidurai has been nominated as the Chairman of the Committee on Private Members'

Bills and Resolutions in place of Dilipkumar Mansukhlal Gandhi.

Thamburai is also renominated as Chairman of the panel on on Local Area Development Scheme which reviews the implementation of the MPLAD scheme.
