Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi sworn-in as chief justice of Chhattisgarh HC

Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi, senior-most judge of Patna High Court, was sworn-in as the chief justice of Chhattisgarh high court at Darbar Hall of the Rajbhawan in Raipur.

RAIPUR: Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi, senior-most judge of Patna High Court, was sworn-in as the chief justice of Chhattisgarh high court at Darbar Hall of the Rajbhawan in Raipur.

Governor Balram Das Tandon administered him an oath of office and secrecy. He became the 14th chief justice of the state high court. He has replaced Chief Justice T B Radhakrishnan who has been transferred to the common high court for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states at Hyderabad.

Justice Tripathi, who hails from the steel city of Bokaro did his schooling from St Xavier school from the same town and graduated from Sri Ram college Delhi. He further studied law at Delhi University and began practising as an advocate in Patna high court. He was appointed as the judge in Patna high court in 2006 and elevated as regular judge in the same court from November 21, 2007.

Fond of playing golf, he has participated in inter-state golf tournaments. The brief ceremony was attended by chief minister Raman Singh, his cabinet colleagues, sitting and former judges of high court, senior administrative officials and advocates. Alka Tripathi, wife of the new chief justice and his relatives also graced the occasion at Rajbhawan.
