HUBBALLI: AIR India, which is presently operating flights from Hubballi to Bengaluru five days a week, has hinted at increasing the frequency from August. It has assured to operate flights daily. As of now, only Air India is operating flights between Bengaluru and Hubballi. The daily service was supposed to begin almost three months ago but due to staff crunch, the operator had postponed the plan.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi met Managing Director of Air India Ashwani Lohani recently and briefed him about the needs of commuters, to which Lohani is said to have given the green signal. People of the twin cities are also demanding air connectivity to Mumbai. But, owing to non-availability of space to park smaller aircraft in Mumbai Airport, authorities concerned had scrapped the plan. But now, since the runway expansion work is going on in the Hubballi Airport, Air India has assured to operate a flight between Bengaluru and Mumbai via Hubballi.
