KOCHI: In a gruesome incident, a 38-year-old pastor allegedly killed his two children and committed suicide at their residence at Piravom on Monday early morning.
It is learnt that V R Rejimon of Vellankal killed his son Abhinav, 15, and 12-year-old daughter Alphiya before committing suicide, allegedly due to domestic disputes. However, it is yet to be ascertained what prompted the pastor to take the drastic step.
Local residents informed the police that Rejimon quarrelled frequently with his wife Sandhya over dowry. The couple had a fight on Sunday night over the issue, after Rejimon alleged that he was yet to receive the dowry offered by Sandhya’s parents. During the fight, he had hit Sandhya on the head, leaving her unconscious. It is suspected that Rejimon took the extreme step fearing that Snadhya had died of the injury suffered in the attack.
In the morning, the police were informed by neighbours after being alerted by Sandhya. While Alphiya and Rajimon were found hanging in the room, Abhinav’s body was found in the bedroom. Later, forensic officials and and dog squad examined the spot. “No suicide note has been recovered, and we have registered a murder case under the relevant Sections of the IPC,” said the police. The investigation is led by Piravom CI P K Sivankutty.
Sandhya was admitted to hospital, and was discharged later. Abhinav and Alphiya were students of MKM Higher Secondary School, Piravom.
