KOCHI: The ‘Seeding Kerala 2’ meet held here in Kochi saw a group of prominent investors asserting that the investor community largely focuses on unique ideas and products that are scalable to international market.

Participating in a panel session at the meet, the founder of Unicorn Venture Anil Joshi, said the Kerala Government has taken the next big step towards attracting Venture Capital funds to the state through ‘Seeding Kerala’ initiative. The two-day event was organised by the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) at Rajagiri Schol of Engineering and Technology here.

“Indian startups made copies of US-based innovations during the first phase. However, the ecosystem has come a long way and we find a number of youngsters coming up with unique and innovative ideas. Investors are keener to  fund such products,” said Mayuresh Raut, the co-founder of SEA Fund.

Varun during the session announced that he would be investing a part of his profit share in budding startup ventures. “What I really look for is the passion of the founder team and the honesty they have to achieve the same. This is what matters to me apart from all the technical aspects of investing,” he noted.
All the three panelists in the discussion were unanimous in their contention that they were passionate about investing in startups.
