KOCHI:  Meditation is an indispensable tool for leaders to remain efficient and compassionate, said Nalanda University Chancellor Vijay Bhatkar, here, at ‘Power of IAM,’ a business conclave on the importance of meditation practice for leaders. Vijay Bhatkar, who is also the father of supercomputing in India,  said the world is characterised by complexity, uncertainty and rapidity of change and these create a lot of stress in a leader.

Introduced in 2003, IAM (Integrated Amrita Meditation) is a practice synthesised by Mata Amritanandamayi. It integrates simple yoga stretches into a short package. It is currently taught in four versions for various age groups.  Brahmachari Nijamrita Chaitanya, who has been teaching IAM technique since 2003, explained the practice. The workshop on IAM was led by a team of professors from Amrita University.  The leaders appreciated the 20-minute long technique which incorporates the best elements of all types of meditation.
