Kavi Uddeshichathu is a village comedy woven around three humorous persons

Navamy Sudhish

Remember Ramaniyechiyude Namathil, the short film that went viral and bagged a bevy of awards? Well, the team is back with a village comedy starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Narain in the lead. “It’s a total laughathon, something that amuses all types of audience,” says Liju Thomas who co-directed the film with Thomas.

It’s for the first time the three actors are teaming up for a film and they play Kavalam Jimmy, Minnal Simon and Vattathil Bosco on screen. Simon is shrewd motor mechanic who owns a rundown workshop. While Narain plays the wealthy-but-vain Bosco, Asif’s Jimmy is a roadside fruit vendor. “Jimmy works with a couple of close buddies and together they do all sorts of mix-ups. It’s for the first time Narain is doing an out-and-out comedy role. Bosco is nothing like you normally expect him to be,” says Liju.
All the three heroes of Kavi Uddeshichathu share a quality - nobody can guess what’s brewing in their minds. “Keeping their original interest a secret, they will keep talking about other things to create confusion. Hence the title  Kavi Uddeshichathu,” he explains. Anju Kurian, who was part of Premam and Om Shanti Oshana, makes her leading debut with the film.
Lju says one USP of the film will be it’s climax as it was shot amidst nearly 6,500 people. “For new-comers like us it was a real challenge. Iritty in rural Kannur was the location and most of the locals were seeing a film shooting for the first time,” he adds. Bankrolled by Asif Ali under the banner of Adam’s World of Imagination, the film will hit the marquee next weekend.
