With the Delhi Assembly polls drawing closer, the BJP has sharpened its attack on the Congress saying the party has left “no sphere free from corruption” and blamed it for problems faced by people.

“The Congress isn’t aware about the condition of people. Can’t good roads be made here? Can’t people living in clusters get regular water supplies? The Congress is responsible for resident’s woes,” said former BJP president and Delhi election in-charge Nitin Gadkari while campaigning for the party’s Mehrauli candidate.

“This party has left no space free from corruption. The Congress had done corruption in air - 2G scam; on land - Commonwealth games, and even underground - Coalgate scam,” he added.

Slamming the Congress for “dynasty-politics”, Gadkari said “Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit worries about Sandeep Dikshit while Congress president Sonia Gandhi worries about Rahul Gandhi.”

“The Congress’ mere concern is to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India. I ask, what makes him qualified for such a post?” said Gadkari adding that wherever Rahul goes, the number of Congress votes go down. “I appeal to our Mehrauli candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh to invite Rahul to Mehrauli. We will witness our victory with a much larger difference,” said Gadkari taking dig at the Congress vice-president.

Gadkari reiterated the BJP’s promise of reducing electricity bills by 30 per cent, if the party is voted to power, and said Solar panels would be installed on every house for even cheaper electricity.

Solar panels would be installed on every house. Each household would produce their own electricity, which will cost you only `4.5 per unit. New meters will be fitted in your house, Gadkari said.

In a bid to touch a chord with voters, Mehrauli candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh appealed them to vote for him as a “tribute” to his of father and former Chief Minister of Delhi Sahib Singh Verma, who passed away six years back.

“This is my first election. My father’s name, his reputation is at stake. This election should be a tribute to Sahib Singh Verma and nothing more. “Six years back, we lost of our leader from the area, my father. Even today people of this village have not forgotten their leader,” said Singh.

He blamed the Congress for poor condition of roads, severe lines and water shortage in the area.

Swamy Attacks AAP

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday alleged that the AAP was accepting funds from abroad, including places like Bermuda and Cayman Islands which were notorious for money laundering.

He also raised the issue of criminal cases against AAP leaders relating to rioting and deterring public servants from discharging duty. Swamy said AAP founder Kejriwal should explain the criminal cases pending against him. “With such allegation on him, how can he claim to clean a party, he should accept the fact that they are like any other party,” Swamy added.

Questioning the verification the Aam Aadmi Party or Kejriwal had carried out before accepting the donations from abroad, he said: “As a test case, a US citizen Ramesh Narayanswamy had entered bogus passport details on the AAP website and without verification his donation of `500 was accepted and he received a receipt.”
