MUMBAI: A 45-year-old woman was today arrested as she allegedly tried to steal toilet seats and wash basins from a stationary train at suburban Ghatkopar station, Railway police said.

"Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-bound Karmabhoomi Express was today terminated at Thane, following which the empty racks were sent to Ghatkopar station," a Railway Protection Force (RPF) official said.

The train, whose coaches were not closed despite arriving at loop lines, prompted the accused to enter it and try to steal the toilet installations, he said. Identified as Sarita Gupta, a rag-picker, the woman stole three wash basins and two toilet seats from one of the coaches, he said.

However, she was caught when she was trying to escape with the stolen items, the official said. A case has been registered under Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act, he said, adding further investigation is on.
