BHOPAL: Union minister and ex-Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti has asked people not to compare her with Pragya Singh Thakur, the BJP candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat.

“Woh toh ek mahan sant hai, meri unse tulna hi nahi karni chahiye, kyonki mai toh ek bahut hi sadharan aur moorkh kism ki praani hoon (There should be no comparison between her and me, as she is a great saint, while I’m a very ordinary and foolish creature),” Bharti said when asked by journalists in Katni district about whether Thakur will be able to take her place in state politics.

Bharti had won the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat in 1999 and was among those BJP leaders, whose names were doing rounds of BJP circles for the seat. This despite the ex-MP CM having already made it clear that she won’t contest the 2019 general elections over health reasons, but will certainly campaign for whoever is the BJP candidate in Bhopal.

However, after this statement to journalists, it now remains to be seen whether Bharti will campaign for Thakur in Bhopal.

Meanwhile, Union minister and RPI (A) president Ramdas Athawale, who was in Bhopal on Sunday, said that the Narendra Modi-led NDA will win at least 350 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.
