Militant killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam

SRINAGAR: A Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant was on Friday killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said.

A gunfight erupted between militants and security forces in Kralpora, Checkpora area of Budgam in the morning during a search operation.

A policed official identified the deceased militant as Zarar from Pakistan.

“Zarar was wanted by security forces for his involvement in planning and executing attacks on security forces,” he said. There was no collateral damage in the gunfight.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the site of the encounter, he said.

Meanwhile, in the first sign of intergroup rivalry among militants, a militant of ISJK Khateeb Dass in a purported video, which has gone viral on social media, blamed the LeT and Hizb militants for killing one of its members Adil Dass at Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Police had recovered the bullet-ridden body of Adil from an orchard in Bijbehara area of Anantnag. Another militant Arif Hussain Bhat, who was injured, was arrested.

In the video, Khateeb alleged that Adil was shot by LeT and Hizb militants.

In the video, the ISJK militant termed LeT and Hizb militants as “dogs”.

He also showed pictures of the LeT and Hizb militants involved in the killing of Adil.
