SAMBALPUR: The Rural Information and Communication Technology (RICT) project of the Department of Posts has the potential to transform the rural economic landscape by changing the way in which rural branch post office works.Speaking to media here on Saturday, Postmaster General of Sambalpur region, Lalitendu Pradhan, said the RICT project has been successfully rolled out at Dhenkanal division under Sambalpur postal region where 363 rural branch post offices have been brought under RICT under phase-I of the project.

The remaining four divisions - Sambalpur, Balangir, Keonjhar and Sundargarh - under this region are going to be included under RICT Phase-II plan by March, 2018, he said.
 He also informed that two India Post Payment Bank (IPPB), a Public Limited Company with 100 per cent government equity owned by the Department of Posts, will be established shortly at head post offices at Sambalpur and Sundargarh. Subsequently, the IPPB will be set up at Rourkela, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Balangir, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Sonepur.
