Educators honoured at VIT University

The Physics division of VIT University, Chennai, honours educators with Royal Society Award.

The Physics Division of the School of Advanced Sciences, VIT University, Chennai, organised the India — UK Joint Networking Scientific Workshop on Nanomaterials for Clean Water and Clean Energy for three days (February 9-11). This was supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, Government of India and The Royal Society, London on behalf of the Department of Business Innovation Skills (BIS). Based on the merit and the research contributions, the Royal Society and the DST jointly selects the candidates and give them the ‘DST — Royal Society Award’. Prof Steve Dunn, School of Engineering and Material Science, Queen Mary University of London and Prof L John Kennedy, Physics Division, School of Advanced Sciences, VIT University, Chennai were selected for the award for the year 2014. Kadhambari S Viswanathan, Assistant Vice-President, VIT University, Chennai, delivered a special address and presented awards. SK Varshney, Scientist-F and Director, International Bilateral Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Government of India, was present.
