Newly-formed City outfit South United Football Club recorded their first victory in four outings in the 2nd division I-League football championships defeating Hindustan FC 2-0 at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Wednesday.
Despite this victory, South United have little or no chance of progressing as they have lost three games so far. They will not only have to win their remaining games but also hope for the others to lose if they are to finish among the top two. It looks highly improbable at the moment.
Dominating the game, South United struck through former HAL striker Vinoth in the 37th minute. But Hindustan put up a dogged resistance and managed to keep their rivals at bay for long spells while frittering away some chances.
However, South United ensured that they would get their first set of full points when Amoes converted neatly three minutes into injury time leaving no time for their opponents to do anything at all.
