UP Government to Give Rs 30 Lakh to Asian Games Gold Winners

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced the reward for Priyanka Panwar and Danish Mujtaba, both hailing from the state, for winning gold.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Friday announced a reward of Rs 30 lakh each for Indian women relay race team member Priyanka Panwar and men's hockey team member Danish Mujtaba, both hailing from the state, for winning gold in Incheon Asian Games.

"The CM has announced award of Rs 30 lakh each to Priyanka and Danish Mujtaba for their performance in the Asian Games and winning gold for the country as members of relay race and hockey team members," a spokesman said here.

While Priyanka hail from Muzaffarnagar district of the state, Danish belongs to Allahabad.

Yadav said their performance will encourage sportsmen from the state.

Priyanka was part of the 4x400 relay race team, while Danish played in the hockey team that defeated Pakistan 4-2 to bag the gold medal in the Asian Games men's hockey after a gap of 16 years.
