Absconding bookies have stake in SLPL

The betting racket may not be just restricted to the IPL as some of the bookies  have bought stakes in league teams in other nations. Based on the information provided by Vindu Singh Randhawa to Mumbai police, two absconding bookies from Rajasthan have bought *benami* stakes in a team in the Sri Lankan Players League (SLPL). The Mumbai police do not have more information on the identity of the team which bookies indirectly own.

The absconding bookies in question are Jaipur brothers – Pawan and Sanjay. Both the bookies are absconding and the police believe that Vindu had helped Pawan to flee the country following the arrest of Sreesanth and two other players. Following the admission by Vindu that he had made an unsuccessful attempt to recruit two players for the next  IPL season, the police are also questioning Vindu and trying to ascertain if he had established contact with Sreesanth. Meanwhile a private complaint has been moved before the magistrate court to prosecute the functionaries of BCCI and IPL team owners under criminal charges on the allegations of fixing.
