Fine slapped on Kerala Blaster's vehicle ahead of ISL final

The department issued the notice after spotting the Volvo bus, belonging to the team, near a luxury hotel at Edappally.

KOCHI: With only hours left for the players of Tendulkar's Kerala Blasters to land in the city for their final match against Atlético de Kolkata in Indian Super League (ISL), the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) issued a notice and slapped a fine of Rs 1.46 lakh to the owner of the players’ bus for illegally spotting advertisements around it.

The department issued the notice after spotting the Volvo bus near a luxury hotel at Edappally. MVD slapped a fine of Rs 1.46 lakh on the owner of the vehicle, a resident of Thrippunithura. 

The bus, covered fully in yellow is also sporting the pictures of players and team co-owner Sachin Tendulkar and the sponsors’ logos with their name. The Volvo vehicle is used for picking up and dropping the players from the stadium to Hotel and vice versa.

"As per the rules, if the owner wants to change the colour of the vehicle, he should submit a request letter to the department and a fee has to be remitted at the RTO office. However, the owner of this luxury bus has not paid any amount for altering the vehicle," said P B Shafeek, Motor Vehicle Inspector, Ernakulam.
