BIRMINGHAM: Harry Redknapp was fired by second-tier Birmingham City on Saturday after his side lost a sixth successive match.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager helped to keep Birmingham in the Championship after taking charge with three games remaining last season.

However, despite signing 14 players during the summer transfer window, Redknapp has been unable to build upon his strong start.

Birmingham was just one place above the bottom of the Championship table after losing to Preston 3-1 at home on Saturday, having taken just four points from its first eight games.
