Gujarat Titans secured a commanding 38-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans moved up to second place in the IPL 2025 points table after a dominant 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Batting first, the Titans posted an imposing total of 224/6, thanks to stellar performances from their top order.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed 186/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma stood out for SRH with a valiant 74 off 41 balls, but the team fell short of the target.

However Abhishek skied Ishant Sharma on the leg side and was caught by Mohammed Siraj for 74 off 41 balls, leaving SRH at 139/3 after 15 overs.

SRH's woes deepened three balls later when Prasidh Krishna had Heinrich Klaasen caught behind by Jos Buttler for 23 off 18 balls.

Earlier, Abhishek had lost his opening partner Travis Head for 20 off 16 balls, caught brilliantly by Rashid Khan off Prasidh.

Prasidh then turned catcher to snap up an Ishan Kishan top edge at third man off Gerald Coetzee. Ishan had laboured to 13 off 17 balls.

Abhishek reached his fifty off 28 balls with a six off Coetzee over long leg.

In the first half of the game, swashbuckling fifties by Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler powered GT to a massive 224/6.

GT openers Gill and Sai Sudharsan continued their rich vein of form with an 87-run opening stand in just 6.5 overs.

Sudharsan smacked 48 off just 23 balls before being caught by wicket keeper Heinrich Klaasen off Zeeshan Ansari as he opened the face of his bat and tried to guide the ball to third man.

Skipper Gill continued to blaze away, reaching his fifty off 25 balls. To SRH's relief, he was eventually run out for 76 off 38 balls.

Buttler then took the baton, belting 64 off 37 balls before holing out to Abhishek Sharma at long-on in the penultimate over by Pat Cummins.

In an eventful final over, Jaydev Unadkat grabbed three wickets but was also hit for two sixes.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins had won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, SRH will be desperate to end their losing streak and stay alive in the tournament.

“We’ll bowl first. It looks like a dry wicket, and chasing under lights could be easier. We’ve spoken a lot about bouncing back strong. The boys are pumped,” Cummins said at the toss.

Gujarat Titans will open the batting with their consistent pair, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, as they aim to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in their previous outing.

GT were stunned by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in their last match and will be eager to return to winning ways to push themselves into the top two on the points table.

SRH have never won a game at this venue, and the pressure will be firmly on their senior bowlers, especially Mohammed Shami, who will open the bowling. With a poor season so far, this match could be pivotal in defining his tournament impact.

Gujarat Titans have made one key change, Washington Sundar makes the XI and is expected to contribute with both bat and ball. Either Arshad Khan or Ishant Sharma will likely be used as the Impact Player depending on the innings situation.

GT vs SRH promises to be a thriller, with both teams eyeing critical points, GT to solidify a top-two finish and SRH to stay in the hunt.
