Indian shuttler Samiya Imad Farooqui reached the finals of the under-15 women's singles with a straight game win over compatriot Aashi Rawat at the Asian Junior Championship.

YANGON: Indian shuttler Samiya Imad Farooqui reached the finals of the under-15 women's singles with a straight game win over compatriot Aashi Rawat at the Asian Junior Championship here today.

The third-seeded Indian, who had reached the finals at Pembangunan Jaya Raya International Junior Grand Prix U-19 in April, defeated Aashi 21-9 21-18 in just 23 minutes to set up a summit clash with Indonesia's Widjaja Stephani tomorrow.

P V Sindhu had won the gold in U-19 Asia Junior championship in 2012 at Gimcheon, South Korea.

Among other Indians, Ayush Raj Gupta and Shubham Patel suffered a 19-21 17-21 loss to Malaysian combo of Muhammad Fazriq Mohammad Razif and Zhen Yi Ong in U-15 men's doubles, while Keyura Mopati and Kavipriya Selvam went down 13-21 19-21 to the Indonesian combo of Kelly Larissa and Shelandry Vyola in U-17 men's doubles.
