HYDERABAD:  Select post offices in the State will now sell non-judicial stamp papers. A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the Chief Postmaster General, Andhra Pradesh Circle and the Commissioner & Inspector General of Registration and Stamps, AP Government.

From January 1, non-judicial stamp papers of Rs 1, 20, 50 and 100 denominations will be available at 104 head post offices in the State and all 213 departmental sub post offices in Hyderabad and Rangareddy.

Speaking after signing the MoU, Chief Postmaster General Yesodhara Menon welcomed the move and said that easy availability of stamp papers would benefit public to a large extent.

Arvind Reddy, Commissioner & IG (Regn & Stamps), said that in the wake of the mult-crore stamp paper scam, the Government had tightened the sale and withdrew stamp papers of denominations higher than Rs 100.

He said the current scarcity of stamp paper was due to the fact that Rs 100 denomination stamp papers were printed at the Nasik press. Though the smaller denomination papers were being printed in Hyderabad the printing presses were busy with other orders.
