HYDERABAD: The Telangana bandh resulted in damages to railway properties on Thursday. The MMTS station booking office at Arts College was set on fire, destroying five computers, four printers, telephone and furniture. The Sitaphalmandi MMTS station booking office windowpanes were damaged.
The Lallaguda halt station was set on fire gutting the furniture, ticket printers, etc.
At Tandur station, the booking office counter glasses, Passenger Operated Enquiry Terminal, waiting hall glasses, parcel office tables and parcels, station building and display boards were damaged.
At Kesamudram station, the train operation panel, booking office windows, terminals and keyboards were damaged.
As many as 14 windowpanes of Train No 2701 (Hussainsagar Express) at Shankarpally station were damaged in stonethrowing.
The last coach of Train No 335 (Nagpur-Kazipet passenger) was set on fire at Hasanparti station. Luckily, no passenger was hurt.
The Reservation Centers at AS Rao Nagar and Saroornagar in the twin cities were shut down and some equipment was damaged at AS Rao Nagar.
Because of the bandh 11 Express trains were regulated between Kazipet and Balharshah, and between Kazipet and Vijayawada in Warangal and Karimnagar districts. Three trains were regulated between Secunderabad and Wadi in Rangareddy district.
In Hasanparti (near Kazipet), Nekkonda (near Warangal), Tandur (near Wadi), Vikarabad, Zaheerbad, Jam-e- Osmania, agitators sat on tracks, removed pendrol clips, placed rail pieces and boulders on track etc.
