HYDERABAD: The Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) of AP Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) at Vijayawada has bagged the National Award for Meritorious Performance in the Power Sector for 2008-09.

The award, instituted by the Union ministry of power to inculcate competitive spirit among the power utilities in the country, was received by APGenco managing director K Vijayanand, director C Radhakrishna and chief engineer S Anjaneya Rao from Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde in New Delhi today.

During 2008-09 the station generated 10,341 mu of electricity and achieved a plant load factor of 93.7 per cent and a record heat rate of 2,321 Kcal per kwh with availability of 95.1 per cent.

The power plant has bagged the meritorious productivity awards from the Union power ministry for 21 consecutive years and incentive awards for nine consecutive years.
