Reiterating his government’s commitment to uplift of oppressed classes in every way, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has declared that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that Scheduled Castes and Tribes have their rightful share of the fruits of development.
Speaking at presentation of J.Eashwari Bai Memorial Award-2013 here Sunday, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said the SC and ST Sub-plans, which got legal sanctity, was the most stellar achievement by his government.
‘’Now, for the first time under the Act, we will allocate 22.8 per cent of the total state budget-2013 for their welfare. That will be an additional Rs 3,000 to 4,000 crore allocation to create more opportunities for them in education, health and employment. After six months the funds spent will be reviewed.’’
He claimed that the sub-plan Act earned his government laurels at the recent brainstorming session of AICC at Jaipur and the high command even advised other Congress-ruled states to emulate Andhra Pradesh, and Uttaranchal was in the process of replicating it.
Major industries minister J Geetha Reddy, daughter of late Republican Party leader, presided over the meeting. Two Union ministers - Sarve Satyanarayana and Porika Balram Naik - were presented with the award.
Satyanarayana said he had cleared files on laying 1,350 km of national highways in the state. Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Milind Kamble was also felicitated.
